
New London
New London is a town in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, with a population of 4,400 as of the 2020 census. It is home to Colby–Sawyer College and has hosted the Gordon Research Conferences since 1947. The town center sits on a hilltop along New Hampshire Route 114, near Route 11 and Interstate 89.

Originally granted in 1753 as “Heidelberg,” the area was not settled until it was regranted in 1773 as the Alexandria Addition. By 1779, enough families had settled to incorporate the town as New London. Portions of the town were later separated to form Wilmot in 1807, with smaller boundary changes occurring in the early 19th century.

New London covers about 25 square miles and includes several large lakes, most notably Lake Sunapee along its western border. The town lies within both the Connecticut and Merrimack River watersheds and is served by Interstate 89 and several state routes, making it a regional hub in the Lake Sunapee area.
